Handling employees without a pay band
Find the employees no covers and give them one before your next cycle launches. You need the System Admin or Total Rewards Admin , and with in it — see Importing employee data.
Why an employee has no range
Section titled “Why an employee has no range”An employee is matched to a band by the grade code on their record. They plan without a range, with no and no , when:
- no pay bands are defined at all;
- their grade has no band — a grade code on your employee data that no band carries;
- their grade is priced in another currency — the grade has a band, but the employee is paid in a different currency from it;
- they have no grade code on their record.
A cycle takes each employee’s range when it launches, and it can’t be filled in afterwards. So an employee who launches without a range plans the whole cycle without one.
Where you’re told
Section titled “Where you’re told”None of these stops a cycle from launching. Each is a warning, shown where you’ll look before launch:
- Pay bands states its coverage in its subtitle, such as how many grade codes need a band, and shows No pay bands are defined, Grades with no band, naming each grade code, or Grades priced in another currency.
- The card on the Data hub lists No pay bands defined or Unmatched grade code as a Warning, never a Blocker.
- A cycle’s 3. Guidance section shows No pay bands are defined or Some grades are not priced by a band, naming the grades, above the matrix, and the Launch summary repeats it as No pay bands are defined or n grades have no pay band. The notices are not shown on a cycle that plans from Performance alone or from a Flat rate, which read no pay band. When the Guidance header is closed, it names the most serious open line: a guidance blocker, then the pay bands, then employees with no matrix recommendation or no rating, then with no bound.
Give them a band
Section titled “Give them a band”- When no bands are defined, the No pay bands are defined notice offers to draft them, such as Draft 4 bands from your employee data. It starts one row for every grade code your employee data carries.
- When some grades have no band, the Grades with no band notice offers the same, such as Draft 2 bands for them. It starts a row for each grade it names.
Each drafted row already has its grade code; fill in the currency, midpoint and , then select Save. See Defining and changing pay bands.
When a grade is priced in another currency, correct the currency on the band or on the employee. When an employee has no grade code, give them one with Pay grade on their record — see Updating employee data.
