Seeing where the cycle stands
See how far the you’re responsible for have got — who hasn’t planned, who’s waiting on whom, and what’s left for you. You need the People Manager with managers reporting to you, or the Final Approver role, in a cycle that has launched.
On Home
Section titled “On Home”Home is a column of sections, and each loads on its own. Needs you and What’s next come first, side by side. Below them sits the section for your own job, then the others that apply to you: an administrator reads Cycles, then Your team, then Your approvals; a Final Approver reads Your approvals, then Your team; everyone else reads Your team, then Your approvals. A section that doesn’t apply to you isn’t shown.
- Needs you lists every worksheet and that’s waiting on your decision, across every cycle, beside anything you have to plan yourself. It’s the one list to empty, and when it is, it reads You’re all caught up.
- What’s next lists up to five of your coming deadlines, soonest first, across every active cycle. Each names its cycle and how many days remain. A People Manager sees Submit your worksheet; anyone an names sees Your approvals due; a Final Approver also sees Last worksheets due, with how many worksheets are still coming to you. When nothing is coming it reads No dates coming up.
- Your team appears when you own a worksheet in an active cycle, and not otherwise. It shows a card, Your worksheet, for each of your own worksheets — its status, how many of its people you’ve planned (Planned 12 of 18), and how much of your merit budget you’ve spent — with Open worksheet to go straight to it. Beside it, your direct reports who own a worksheet are listed under Direct report, each with its Cycle and Status — In progress, Submitted, Returned or Approved. Managers further down aren’t listed. Selecting a report’s name opens the on that cycle, with their section expanded, so you know who to chase.
- Your approvals appears when an approval chain names you. Three counts sum up your queue: Waiting on you, with the date the oldest was submitted; Still coming to you, the worksheets still with managers or earlier approvers; and Decided by you, with how many you approved and returned. Under them, each active cycle gets a row with its phase, how many of the worksheets that route through you are approved, and Open queue, which opens Worksheets on that cycle. The section shows no budget figures.
On the Rollup tab
Section titled “On the Rollup tab”The top of the Rollup tab, under Worksheets, shows the cycle’s phase and the date its pay changes take effect. The tiles show Manager sections, the Planned increase across all of them, how many proposals are Outside , and how many sections are Awaiting your decision.
Each section says where it is:
-
its status badge — In progress for a manager still planning, Submitted, Returned or Approved;
-
Approve and Return when the decision is yours, Release onward when you’ve approved it and it’s waiting on you to send it on, or who it’s Awaiting when it’s with someone else — Awaiting a Final Approver at the top of the chain.
-
under its line, each the team went past, with the notes written for it, and a flag beside the status when the team is past a hard limit.
Above the sections, Your rollup reads each limited pool across your whole rollup, and Submit rollup is where that reading is judged — see Approving or returning a worksheet.
Expand a section and its Approval history shows every step’s decision so far.
For the Final Approver
Section titled “For the Final Approver”A worksheet or package reaches you once every step below the top has approved it and sent it on — or as soon as it’s submitted, for a manager with no one above them who plans. It then appears under Needs you on Home. A package’s page shows Contributing managers, its Planned increase, how many proposals are Outside guardrails, and how many sections are Awaiting decision.
For an administrator
Section titled “For an administrator”On the cycle’s Overview, under each pool’s budget bar, a line says how many managers are past its limits, such as 9 managers past the soft limit · 2 past the hard limit. The Cycles page in the sidebar shows the same on a running cycle’s card, though Home’s Cycles table does not, and the final review lists them under Past a limit. A pool with no manager past a limit shows no line. See Monitoring budget and approvals.
On a worksheet
Section titled “On a worksheet”Open a worksheet you can read and its Approval chain shows each step in order, with Awaiting decision, Approved or Returned on each. When a Total Rewards Admin has handed a step to someone else, the step names who holds it now.
Administrators follow the same approvals across the whole cycle — see Monitoring budget and approvals. To act on what you find, see Approving or returning a worksheet.
